SALOME SALON

Salome Salon is a platform for discussing art making and the intersections between contemporary painting and performance practices. Salome Salon is ran by artist Fay Nicolson with a focus on DIY publishing, forming networks built on shared concerns, and practices that have been developing slowly, in and out of the limelight.

Founded in 2021, the salon began in the UK lockdown where new coding skills, free time, and a desire to connect with fellow artists catalysed the platform’s creation. Salome Salon currently takes the form of in-depth interviews with artists, getting underneath the surface of works to unearth hidden connections, journeys, and motivations.

Our aim is to share a curated selection of practices that demonstrate the breadth and nuance of what a painting or performative practice could be, privileging the perspective of artists.
